Research Projects
Network Design for SBB Cargo
- The project goal was development of an algorithm for the overall design of freight railway network. The algorithm was required to produce a network configuration which minimizes the operating cost.
- The main research challenges were incorporation of all SBB Cargo needs into one model, while considering the specifics of the railway network and its operation, and creation of the appropriate solution algorithm.
- Designed and developed the solution algorithm in cooperation with an expert from SBB Cargo.
- Algorithm tested and delivered successfully to the industrial partner.
- The resulting algorithm is expected to improve the current SBB Cargo network and its future development.
- Location: École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Transport and Mobility Laboratory
- Duration: 2017-2018
TRANS-FORM: Smart transfers through unravelling urban form and travel flow dynamics
- Executed by TRANS-FORM, a cooperation between universities, industrial partners, public authorities and private operators.
- The objective of the project was to develop, implement and test a data driven decision making tool that supports smart planning, and proactive and adaptive operations in multi-modal public transport systems. The tool integrates new concepts and methods of behavioral modelling, passenger flow forecasting and network state predictions into real-time operations.
- TRANS-FORM is funded under the European Commission Horizon 2020 ERA-NET program.
- Designed and implemented software layer which integrates optimization models of different transportation modes.
- Location: École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Transport and Mobility Laboratory
- Duration: 2018-2019
IIS*Case: Intelligent MDSD tool for rapid information system and database prototyping
- Designed and developed IIS*Case module for transformation of check constraint PIM specifications into executable SQL code.
- Designed and developed IIS*Case module for database subschema consolidation with respect to check constraints, based on utilization of SMT solvers.
- Location: Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad
